This was the first magazine I ever subscribed to as a kid. So when I became executive editor in 2010, it felt like I had married my childhood hero. The reality was less exciting but I loved collaborating with some of the best science writers out there and producing influential stories that needed to be told.

The Fall 2022 edition of NYU Langone Health News arrived in the mailboxes of 55,000 readers, competing only with the occasional bill and some outdated junk mail.

Imagine you’re 18, crushing it in the gym, prepping for college, doing it all, when you suddenly learn that you’ll die in months without a heart transplant. Most of us would be … rattled.
